Ankara 19 Mayis Stadium (Turkish: Ankara 19 Mayis Stadyumu) is the home ground for Ankara’s football clubs: Gençlerbirligi, Ankaragücü and Hacettepe. It was built in 1936 and is located in 19 Mayis Sports Complex which is located in Ulus.
Capacity 19,130 Opened 1936 Ankara Stadium is named after the date May 19, 1919 when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk set foot on land in Samsun to start the national independence movement. Official ceremonies to celebrate the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports day are also held inside.
There are five stands: Gecekondu, Maraton, Saatli, Kapali and Protokol. Gecekondu, Maraton and Kapali is usually used by the home side supporters. Protokol belongs to high level officials from the home side and the visiting side. Saatli is usually spared for the visiting team’s supporters. Gecekondu is the cheapest part of the stadium.
The stadium can be accessed by car, bus, Metro and Dolmus.
Ulus Metro Station has an exit for the stadium.
