Champions Golf Club Profile

Champions Golf Club was founded by Jack Burke, Jr. and the late Jimmy Demaret in 1957. From its origin, Champions has consistently carved its place in golf history hosting such prestigious events as the Ryder Cup Matches in 1967, the United States Open in 1969 and the Champions International, a PGA tour event.

The Cypress Creek Course was designed by Ralph Plummer and opened for play in 1959. With over 70,000 trees, wide fairways and enormous greens, it remains one of America’s premier tournament sites.

Directions from Downtown:

Take I-45 North to the Sam Houston Tollway ( Beltway 8 ). Go west on the Beltway and exit at SH 249. Immediately get in the right lane and turn right at the stoplight. This will place you on the service road of SH 249 North. One block ahead, turn right on Cutten Road. Proceed North on Cutten to FM 1960 – turn right. Follow 1960 to the next stoplight, Champions Drive – turn left. Proceed North on Champions, through the three-way stop (Bermuda Dunes), and the club house is on the right hand side.

1967 Ryder Cup Score:
