K Club Profile
The Kildare Hotel and Golf Club (usually referred to as the K Club) is a golf and leisure complex located at Straffan, County Kildare, Republic of Ireland. It is built on the old grounds of Straffan House
The K Club is Ireland’s only 5-star hotel (as rated by The Automobile Association) and contains two world-class golf courses:
* The Palmer Course (7,337 yd), designed by Arnold Palmer, also known as the North Course or the Old Course
* The Smurfit Course, designed by Arnold Palmer, also known as the South Course or the New Course.
The Palmer Course has hosted the Smurfit European Open since 1995, except in 2004 when the event was played on the “inland links” Smurfit Course. The Palmer Course hosted the 2006 Ryder Cup, the first time the event has been staged in Ireland.
