The Triathlon Venue, a temporary competition venue, will be disassembled following the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. With this is in mind, the designers and builders chose the most cost-effective and resource-saving methods for constructing the venue.

In selecting the materials for the venue’s construction, the post-Games re-use of the materials was given much consideration.

The rubber running track will last for more than 10 years, and post-Games, the track will be refitted for use in Changping District’s elementary, middle, and high schools.

The steel used for the dam platform meet construction standards and will be resold to construction companies for re-use.
