Profile

The Plaza México is the largest bullring in the world, seating in excess of 40,000 spectators.

It was originally intended to be part of a multi-venue scheme called the ‘CITY OF SPORTS’ envisaged by businessman Neguib Simón in 1946. However only the Plaza and adjacent football stadium (Estadio Azul) were ever built.

The Plaza México replaced the ageing bullring Toreo de la Condesa.

Capacity 41,262 seated
Built 1944 – 1946
Opened 5 February 1946
