Profile
Queens Sports Club is a cricket stadium in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The stadium holds 13,000 and hosted its first Test match in 1994. The club is one of two homegrounds for the Matabeleland Cricket Team, which up till recently was captained by the Zimbabwean international opening pace bowler Heath Streak. The other Matabeleland ground in Bulawayo is the Bulawayo Athletic Club more fondly known as BAC to the locals- also an international cricket ground.
Queen’s Sports Club is Zimbabwe’s second ground behind Harare Sports Club and a constant on the itinerary of any touring side. Situated close to the city centre, it is one of international cricket’s loveliest venues with an old pavilion and surrounded by trees which give shade to spectators. Much of the ground consists of grass banking and its capacity of 13,000 is more than enough to cope with demand. QSC became Zimbabwe’s third Test venue in October 1994. As of 2007 the cricket ground is not open to the public because of the political situation in the country.
